Part I (Piano)
The piano is an acoustic, stringed musical instrument invented in about 1700, in which the strings are struck by hammers. It is played using a keyboard, which is a row of keys that the performer presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings.
The piano class at RAIS is introduced in the 2nd grade and is taught until 4th grade. Part of the criteria for piano performance assessment is derived from the Trinity College London, and the California Content Standards. The Music Department of RAIS continues to encourage the piano students to pursue their love for piano playing.
Let me share a quote:
“Life is like a piano. White keys are happy moments and the black ones are sad moments. Both keys are played together to give us the sweet music called Life.” by Suzy Kassem.
